Destiny

Have you ever had a sense that something greater than yourself is calling you to meet it? It beckons you to come and have an appointment with it. It first starts out with a restlessness within you, though you can't put a finger on it, you know if you keep that appointment you will enter into a realm of personal satisfaction, fulfillment and opportunities. I've been there, but not fully... and many have been there and have come to a place of peace where they can honestly and finally say this is what I'm supposed to be doing for the rest of my life. That revelation brings a sense of joy and purpose, and that person begins to live a radical life that provokes him/her to greet every morning with a sense of anticipation and not with dread nor the blues... That thing is called destiny, and it has been said that a man will always have an ache in his soul until he reaches that place. That place is referred to as destiny... or to some fate. I remember once I was returning from the local health clinic, as I had gone there to get my shots for an overseas trip to Africa. While driving on the interstate back to my regular job, I had that sense of destiny. It was weird. Who would have thought that I would feel a pull that was beyond myself after being pricked with needles. The call of destiny speaks to us in strange places and does not conform to the ordinary, every day places and events. Many get their calls via night dreams and some day dreams, but many also mistake or ignore its voice and miss out because they are looking for it in the familiar places. I remember hearing Oprah relate the story behind opening her leadership academy for girls in South Africa. She said she keep having dreams of young girls and did not know who those girls were... but somehow along the way she connected the dream with not only her destiny but also those girls. It's up to us to listen and act at the mysterious call of destiny that sometimes come as a whisper... are you listening? I wrote a poem called "Destiny" out of my experience on my way back to work after getting my shots to visit Africa... I started it by saying " Destiny... who can resist you when you call..." My encouragement to you is do not resist this call, but embrace it... you may never know the doors of opportunity that may open up for you, that will take you to the place of revelation, "Wow, I've found what I am meant to do.

Be blessed.

P.S. I will post that poem sometime soon.
