All I can say about this book is wow! The action starts immediatlely and rarely lets up long enough for the reader to catch a breath. Sam and her spirit guide overcome some impossible situations which contribute to her legend. Mark has a guide also, but his is much less active, or he just doesn't listen to it as much. Sam only seems to get into trouble when she loses contact with her gaurdian angel. The other members of the team and Uncle Walt really make the story. They are the family that Sam lost so young. Her isolation really semms pretty complete until the team arrives. The stormy romance between Sam and Mark is very involving for the reader. Neither one of them has ever been in love, and Mark has never been loved by anyone, except by his good friends on his team and he does not recongnize that as more than frienship. Seeing the tough guy terrified by love is a lot of fun, though I felt bad for Sam who suffered much more than she had to. The last scenes of the book are probably the most exciting and I am so glad the author took the time to tie up all of the conflicts of the story so well. This an edge of the seat suspense book with some paranormal elements to make it unique. Definitley read this one.

41/2 Lips from Two Lips Reviews
Robin Leigh Miller tells a totally gripping story that kept me on the edge of my seat as I fought besides Sam and her crew in Afghanistan and then in New York where I could almost see scenes before my eyes. Black Smoke is one of those rare books that you just know will be good from the first page, and I was not disappointed. HOt steamy sex, a fight scine in the desert that left me in awe and a spectacular finish, what else can one ask for? I highly recommend reading this one! Oh, and did I tell you about the other-worldly beings?

Black Smoke is a faced paced novel from the first page to the last. Samantha is a herione who is physically strong yet haunted by the past. Mark's past, while not as violent as Sam's, was a sad one. Shuffled from foster home to foster home, he found his place when he joined the military. Samantha and Mark, it seems, are made for each other, but both must face the demons of their past to find their future.
Robin Leigh Miller's Black Smoke is a wonderful book. I really enjoyed the strong female character. It was humorous to watch the playful exchange of dialog between Sam and Mark and see their growing relationship. This is a super book, don't miss it.

5 Roses from My Book Cravings
Wow talk about an explosion of passion trying to make through between two characters that are afraid of love. I didn't know who I liked more, Mark or Samantha. I mean these characters both had a special characteristic about them that you will come to love. I'm not sure how Robin L. Miller did it but she is definitely on my favorite keeper now. She not only has a devious mind but imaginative to the point where you can actually see Mark in the jungle or the poor woman dying in the hospital. Not only is the book touching but you can feel the characters and their storyline come to life. Robin L Miller is deinitely an author with great talent that will move her readers with great storylines and believable characters. Awesome job.

My Book Cravings
From the very first page, Robin Leigh Miller pulled me into her story of Samantha Wells and Mark Lowe........
I really enjoyed this book. Robin Leigh Miller combines aspects of the supernatural with aspects of the military into a compelling, contemporary romance novel. I found myself rooting for Samantha and Mark to overcome their differences and reach an understanding. It is definitely one that should be on everyone's must read lists.

Miller's Black Smoke is a really hot and fun romance that this reader thoroughly enjoyed. It's action packed and totally believable in a good imagination kind of way. This reader hopes that Robin Leigh Miller's next book highlights one of the other members of her team. This could very well be the beginning of a great series.

Fallen Angel Reviews
I'm not sure where to start as I discuss a book that moved me in more ways than I can count. With so many people putting their hats into the writing arena I find it harder and harder to find books that really tell a "story". Black Smoke is without a doubt a well thought out creation with explisve chemistry, mind-blowing action sequences and a love story that was painful but achingly beautiful to experience. Robin Leigh Miller created something powerful but full of hope, passion and extreme courage. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

A really terrific story! I loved the intensity of Sam's character. The descriptions of Sam's childhood gave the story an excellent starting point. You could really identify with her character and understand why she chose such a drastic career. Kong's character was equally well written. With Kong's past, detachement from serious emotional relationships was also understandable and realistic.
With the excellent portrayals of the characters, as well as a fabulous storyline, this was a truly enjoyable read!

"Characters that come to life"
Paranormal Romance Org
Author Robin Leigh Miller had done and outstanding job on the characters in this book. You really feel them come to life on the pages in front of you. The plot of the story is also great, and could be expanded on. It kept my interest up, and I had a hard time putting it down. The Spirit Guide I really liked, being supportive, there when she needed him; along with the reason for the Spirit Guide. This author's name will go into my list of authors to watch.

Black Smoke is fast paced, action filled and absolutley, totally fantastic! I couldn't put Black Smoke down because both the story line and the characters are incredibly believable. The instant attraction between Sam and Mark is wonderful to see although they fight it because, as all covert operatives know, the mission comes first then lives depend on them doing their jobs.
Black Smoke is one of the best books I've read in a long time and it's also one that I will be reading again and again. I'm hoping that Robin Leigh Miller will be writing more books with these four incredible characters, they'll be an auto buy for me. For lovers of action and romance, I joyfully recommend Black Smoke.
