I am Mad as Hell 1/11/2009 10:01:10 AM What the hell has happen to the United States Citizen? We cannot blame anyone but ourselves for the financial bailout of 2008. We have sat on our butts for the past twenty seven years and said, or did nothing; while we were lied too about Iraq, and did nothing. We read the newspapers, or listen to the television about CEO getting billions of dollars of parachute compensations while their corporation’s stockholders lost their life saving, and we did nothing.
Now we want to blame the president, Wall Street and our Congressmen for the 700 billion dollars bailout. When this news first hit the newsstands, we couldn’t believe that it was true. We were so mad that we finally got off of our butts, and called our Congressmen, and told them not to pass the bailout legislations. We didn’t believe them. Remember our president, our Congressmen, and the Iraq issues, the weapon of mass destruction? We were told after the facts that our president had lied to us, now that same president and congressmen wants us to believe that this country was facing a financial crisis.
I am an intelligent man, and I didn’t believe our president or our congressmen. The first words out of my mouth were; President Bush and Vice President Chaney are ripping us off for the last time before they leave office.
I remember President Reagan said; that government and its regulations are the problems. I can remember when our president and the congress began deregulating our financial systems, and at the time I asked myself; who is guarding the hen houses from the foxes. I was told by my leaders; that the foxes would guard the hen houses. Give me a break.
America, this beautiful and wonderful country that our fathers, and their fathers, and many others have given their lives to preserve its freedom over the past 232 years will never be the same. This world as we know it will never be the same. The “new deal” of the 1930’s changed America. The great bailout of 2008 will also changed America.
When I put my money into a financial institution, I want it to be regulated. If I deposit into this institution ten dollars, when I go to withdraw, I want my ten dollars plus interests. If I want to gamble with my money, I will go to a casino.
What will become of this great country? My vision of this country will be a country of peace, of helping to eliminate starvation on this earth, of having a health care system that covers its entire citizen, of being energy independent, using solar, wind, and once we understand how to harness nuclear waste, nuclear energy. America will once again become that great beam of light on the hill.
