I do not know if the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 will help create jobs or not, but I do know that its intention is well meaning for the American people.
President George Bush pushed through Congress and signed a $750 billion dollars bill to help Wall Street. President Bush went to Congress with a one page request asking for the $750 billion dollars with no oversight, The one page document stated that Congress could not asked how the money would be spent, nor could any legal actions be taken on those who spend it or gave it away. That bill was passed in Congress on a bipartisan vote overwhelmingly, Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. The bill that President Bush and his Treasure Secretary put together were to bail out Wall Street and our Congressmen, Democrats, Republicans and Independents, has no problems passing it.
Now President Barack Obama has before Congress a bill he calls ďAmerican Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.Ē This bill, $850 billion dollars, is to help the American people, now our congressmen are saying itís too much money, too much spending, welfare money, on and on and on they cry. No problems when it comes to spending our tax money to bail out Wall Street, but when it come to helping the tax payers that bail out Wall Street, then they, Congressmen, all of a sudden become fiscal conservative.
Congress has not allocated a major bill on this country infrastructure in over a century. I have driven across this country many times, bridges that I was afraid to drive across, roads that have pot holes so deep that when my car hit them I felt hurt, train tracks that has not been repair since the mid-1800, schools that is dying need of repair, and dams that has cracks.
When the American people hear that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 would create jobs, rebuilding our infrastructures, rebuilding our schools, rebuilding our dams, rebuilding our roads, and creating green jobs, we said itís about time. Tax credit is good, but it is about time that this government does things for the people. Remember, this government is for the people not for big businesses, or the Wall Streetís fat cats.
I am but one voice, a Vietnam veteran, a college graduate, a father, and a concern citizen who love this country, but are tired of the save old Washington bureaucracy. Pass the damn bill. If the bill is passed and our infrastructures are repair, Americans won.
