How the book signing went
Well, what a week when I've been doing the usual juggling work that pays the bill with promoting my book that doesn't!
It was one of the hottest days we've had and yes, everyone was down the beach. Don't blame them, I'd have been for a swim if it wasn't for the need for me to be there sitting in the hot seat waiting for people to show.
Our local tv station were there when I arrived to film me, thankfully I didn't know beforehand otherwise I'd never have slept a wink. Given five minutes warning I was able to talk without shaking.
I had a few people come in and I didn't shame myself so I'm glad I've done it. It was really nice to talk to people about their experiences of France, I enjoyed that enormously.
During the week I've been checking sales and I've sold more since they ran the piece on the news. So all in all the publicity has done me the world of good. I've even had people ask to buy a copy so I've been selling some direct.
I'd say to anyone thinking about it - do it but make sure you get some publicity beforehand. It was a bit daunting sitting in the middle of the shop as people came in and out as they all look at you and glance at the book and then talk to each other as they continue on their way but hey, I've written it, I believe in it, so I can go and sell it.
I was told the bookmarks were a brilliant idea and they didn 't cost me much to do. Any gimmick is worth a go and you never know, that in itself may get noticed by others.
