An update

**in which I recount the progress I have been making on my novel**
I love to read writing magazines. As Hubby and I ventured off island last weekend, I was able to obtain a new one. It did not disappoint: tons of useful information. I have been discovering that there is more than one set of strategies to employ to write a novel. In this new magazine an author explained his technique. He compared it to building a house. I am far less systematic. I would describe my method more like creating a collage. I start with an outline. Then, however, I work on the beginning, middle and end seemingly at the same time - as inspiration strikes. Currently I write in a binder where I use one side of a lined piece of paper. I leave the other side blank. At first I wondered why I was doing this. Wasn't it a bit of a waste? I soon realized, however, that leaving the side blank would enable me to make notes: a bonus as it turns out. I am progressing slowly through the story (32 hand-written pages) but as I move forward I move backwards as well. You see as I progress through the story form time to time I realize that I should have included more information, further details earlier. My ability to add notes allows me to easily do so instead of having to re-write the whole section. It is not important which method you use as long as it works for you...I suppose.
