Life Happens When You're Trying to Write

I read an interesting writers' magazine recently
In the magazine, the work of a writer was outline. The work of a writer: Christina Katz writes -- in her Writer's Digest article "Revoluntionary Road" -- 'write, finish what you write and send what you write to an editor. Everything else is gravy.'
Now that we know what our work is why aren't you...why aren't I doing it?
I am currently working on three stories: the second book in the Maynely a Mystery series; a young adult novel; a paranormal novella. I say 'working on' but use the words loosely. I know that my work environment requires structure. Yet,lately there has been very little of that.
Why?
Well...um...er...my only excuse is that other more shiny things have dazzled me.
What will I do about it?
My plan is to run away to Manitoba and leave my life behind three provinces away in BC. (Oh, the scarifices I make for my art.) There on that distant land, I can focus all my efforts, all my focus on my work.
It's a theory. Wish me luck.
