where did yesterday go: had crud chores to do that i hate, completed some, have more to do yet. dunno what else ... read an entire book ... but it was a bad book that left me feeling like i needed to read another book, post-haste, to get the bad book out of my head. the bad book, i guess, was a "reading to write" book since i couldn't quite get into it and imagined ways that the book could have been presented differently so that i'd be more interested. mostly it was my only day off for the next week and i tried to fill it productively and with some enjoyment, but mostly it felt like a total loss because two days off would have been nicer, or days off that aligned with boyfriend's day off would have been supreme.

bird-watching is: addictive, relaxing, worthwhile. our feeders are sooooooooooooo busy lately and there is much to see, loads of color and activity. things are bluer than blue, redder than red, far more yellow than one might imagine and in contrast some very subdued species giving off zero-crayola color.

work is: something we all have to do but wish we didn't but is necessary to feed the kitty. i just sawed off a guy's leg, so i guess in contrast, i'm not having such a bad day.

summer is: moving quickly. we seem to mark our time by our shared days off and have approximately 10 good long hiking days mapped out in various locations, some time on the great lakes in various vessels and hopefully an island getaway for a day of biking. i am living for the weekend, which for us is friday and saturday of this week-ending. must get there. must get there. slow and steady ... must... get ... there.

the moon tonight, full to overflowing could be: the perfect lumination for a night hike or careful bike ride. i'll settle for either as it is a marked day for us and worth celebrating especially with the moon.

"squatters" who arrived on the scene this weekend, and yet remain invisible to the naked eye: my daughter and niece, obstensibly here to "get more stuff" but so far only one of them slept here, the other one went to a graduation party, one looked in the fridge with a look of distain but was pleased to see the "care package" of goodies i cleaned out of the cupboard for them to take when they leave. both are awol today but promise to "be back later." one of them drank my last diet pepsi and left me, the addict, high and dry this morning ... but later went to get more even though she was "not even awake yet!" one goes home tonight with a "load of cra*" and the other leaves tomorrow with the last "load of cra*"

things they were making eyes at: some mismatched silverware because "we don't have enough forks, or maybe we should do our dishes more often." those, they can have. a box fan, "because our air conditioning doesn't really reach into the bedrooms ... boo-hoo" this they cannot have, since our bedrooms don't reach to any air conditioner.
