... still making them, but like pulling teeth

where does a week (and then two weeks go) ... or how times flies when you are having fun?!?!?!?:  two weeks ago today, i took a paid time off day, spur of the moment.  we had a glorious day of lazing along a riverbed fishing (catching nothing) and then a mega-trek through a marshland wildlife refuge where we saw so much flora, fauna, feather and fur that we lost track of our species count, as we stood off to the side munching on cat tail roots.

i believe they call this "the calm before the storm," as within that very same week, we both had trips to the emergency room ... me, with "transient neurological deficits," netting me a CT scan, tons of blood work and getting my arsh put back on plavix, the drug of choice although not my favorite case scenario.  ... and the other of us ...well, p was misdiagnosed at the medical clinic one day, and then i took him to the ER two days later because he needed a steroid shot for an increasingly bad case of poison ivy.  of our two medical concerns, both linger i suppose.  the poison ivy is slightly more volatile and bothersome and will be for up to three weeks.  poison anything is beastly.  TNAs and TIAs, i guess, are slightly more soft-spoken and underlying.  translation:  a pain in thy arsh.

fish we've caught since then:  after our first trek out which proved fish-less we have had 2 more successful runs of fishing in a fav little spot, in a cove, along a riverbed ... the first night pulling in our take and limit of "sunfish" which made a spectacular mouth-melting white fish dinner (x20 fish), although they are a lot of work to get to the meat avoiding all bone.  the area wildlife got the leftovers which we banked under a tree in the backyard for the night and came out in the morning to find the tiny spines picked clean.  last night, after work and before sunset, we drove 30 minutes to our favorite spot, parked the car, packed-on and hiked to our spot in 5 minutes flat.  i am an overanxious fisherwoman, so i really moved along the path last night with p. saying, "hey, that's 35 inches of inseam ahead of me!" having worked all day, i needed to fish!  we made it to our spot prior to sunset and right at sunset we managed to pull in two catfish (one each) and lamented the "one that got away."  tonight's fish feast will be wonderful, more meat than bones, and our wildlife visitors in the backyard will appreciate our leftovers, having already carried away the "guts" last night.  catfish one and two are gently resting in balsamic vinegar at the moment, sure to be spiced through and through.

sounds of late:  the many birds, this keyboard (grrrrrrrrrrrr), the sound of p. flint-knapping colored glass into jewelry (of which i have already fallen for my unique piece), cars of summer traveling by pulling boats and trailers, the absolute quiet of the sky which refuses to puke up any rain, the negative sound of zero-children on the premises, the occasional phone call and zero lawnmowers to disrupt the peace as the grass in the area is shorn low and decidedly yellow.

things to do on a monday:  return mega books to the library, the one-month due date changing of the times and interests.  we bring home a wall of books which get to live with us for a month, for our perusal and choosing when the mood strikes.  then we hike them all back for a fresh batch.  a lot like foster care for books.  we give them a home for a month and they in turn enrich or lives, open our minds and give us reason to want to choose up another load for the next month.

what's stuck in my throat: this blog, among other things … penned it on monday and failed to post it until now.  the catfish, in any event, were supreme … though we did not fry them up until last evening …yum! and then left their big fat heads and other remains outside for the animals.  this morning, there was not one speck left and somewhere sits a fat raccoon rubbing his belly.

need or want? to hang out in the library.  took books back but didn’t replace same.  need new blood.  must trek to library and kidnap more books.

what I'm getting paid for:  this, nothing, breathing … my work computer has "glitched" and fedex failed to arrive today with new components, so it's another day in wait … but they pay me for the waiting.

what i'm looking for:  same thing as everyone else, that undefined "something," but mostly my county durham, english ancestors, feeling as if one of them has something to say to me, somewhat after the fact.
