Enthusiam Gap

Be Careful what you enthuse over
Pundits say Republicans have an enthusiasm gap over the Democrats in the coming election. If so, what are they so enthused about? We're talking about a bunch of libertarians who don't believe in effective government. They claim they're going to repeal most the Health Care legislation and protect Bush's tax cuts. Can they realistically do that?
Heck no. Democrats had huge majorities in the House and the Senate, and it seemed they couldn't get anything past that filibuster threat in the Senate. Democrats can filibuster, too, you know. And, like Tim Pawlenty in Minnesota, Obama has the veto pen. What they'll really do is throw the whole mess into even more gridlock than we have now, hoping the "enthusiasts" will blame it on the democrats.
Democrats like to claim that American voters have a tendency to vote against themselves, which might explain the gap between the rich and the poor, which keeps getter wider and wider. I'm just wondering how many of those "enthusiasts" are on social security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment, or have used the GI Bill to go to school. And how many of them belong to unions or belonged to one before they retired? If so, those are all democratic programs. Don't let Republicans tell you they voted to protect Medicare when their party never supported Medicare in the first place. Don't let them tell you they voted to reduce taxes on Social Security when they keep yammering about Socialism. They vote to reduce taxes on everything. They're one trick ponies. And our taxes aren't even very high compared to Europe. The rich once paid over 90% on their taxes, and that was one of the boom eras in United States history. And who says they'll spend that money on jobs? They could, as many of them do, sock it away in an account on the Cayman Islands.
I hear the Tea Party will be intimidating voters, looking for felons who aren't qualified. One or two of them voted for Al Franken in the last senatorial election in Minnesota.
Actually they're hoping to scare away black voters who tend to vote democratic. It will be harder for people to prove they're eligible this year because of all the foreclosures.
I hope one of them tries to stop me from voting. I'm looking to punch an "enthusiast".
