Tan-orexic Woman Poor Role Model 5/4/2012 11:01:20 AM Patricia Krentcil is symptomatic of our culture.
I see they’ve dropped the charges on the “Tan”-orexic woman who was accused of taking her five-year-old into a tanning both. I mean, why would you not suspect her of such a thing? She looks like a baseball mitt left out in the sun too long. What part of skin cancer does this woman not understand?
The owner of the tanning salon should be brought up on charges for allowing this woman to partake of his/her service. Even saloons stop a customer from drinking after his eyes are bloodshot and starts garbling his speech. Social services should take her kids away right now! Maybe she didn’t take her daughter into the tanning booth, but she’s setting such a bad example those kids can’t help but be warped.
She’s symptomatic of what’s wrong with this country, too much freedom. An Arizona neo-nazi just shot his girlfriend, her daughter, her daughter‘s boyfriend, and a sixteen-month-old toddler. And that’s only half of it. Jason Todd Ready was a protégé of Russell Pearce, former Arizona congressman and sponsor of the infamous Arizona immigration law that would allow policeman to harass American citizens. Pearce was recalled by district constituents, but he was immediately given a high level position in the Arizona Republican party. They got away with the Gabby Gilmore incident because the democratic party was too chicken to press the issue. But are they going to look the other way when a Tea Party (Hey, Russell Pearce wears a “Don’t Tread on Me” necktie every place he goes) nut cake murders a little kid?
I wonder how much airtime this case will get. Mitt Romney says it’s shameful that the United States didn’t give sanctuary to the blind Chinese incident who escaped from house arrest. Romney has no idea what happened there. He’s just playing politics, something the GOP accused Obama of doing with the Osama bin Laden anniversary. Want to bet he doesn’t say a word about Russell Pearce? Jason Todd Ready is not the only psycho in the Tea Party. When the NAACP did an investigation they found that five of their leaders had ties to White Supremacy. Some of them showed up at CPAC a conservative convention in February. They weren’t told to leave. The NAACP investigation got about two days of national news coverage.
Most Americans will just shrug off the Ready story, especially if they have ties to the GOP or if they get their news from Fox. Some won’t even hear about it because they’re too busy following Kim Kardasian’s every move. She showed up at the Press Corps shindig the other night, featuring President Obama as a standup comedian. Are reality TV stars now considered members of the Washington press corps?
I’m trying to make a transition to reality TV and I’m not doing too well, but I’ll say it anyway. Toddlers and Tiaras. My God. Have they no shame? Didn’t we go through this during the Jon Benet Ramsey murder case? If her parents didn’t do it, some perv from the beauty contests Jon Benet participated in did. But reality TV producers have a tin ear when it comes to taste.
Patricia Krentcil, the woman with the leather tan, probably caught her obsession from Hollywood actresses, who think tanning makes them look healthier. But she’s not the only one. Americans are obsessed with celebrity and apparently they don’t care how they got there: See the Kardasians who have no recognizable talent. Where is the FCC when we need them? There’s not a whole lot we can do about reality TV, but something like Toddlers and Tiaras should certainly set off an alarm.
