Since our recent General Election, Anwar Ibrahim, once a former Deputy Prime Minister has been harping on his imminent coup.He is the adviser to the Opposition People's Coalition and have made many outrageous claims that he have the real numbers in our[Malaysian] Legislative Chamber.
DARO is a small town in the state of Sarawak. Sarawak is one of the states in Malaysia.
Sarawak is ruled by the National Front ever since it joined the Federation of Malaya to form Malaysia. During the last General Election the National Front Coalition in Sarawak lost only one Parliamentary seat to the DAP.
The bluff is about Anwar Ibrahim and his dreams. Of course he got many dreams. Once upon a time,Anwar Ibrahim tasted that ultimate aphrodisiac known as POWER. He was once made the acting Prime Minister. After that Dr Mahathir Mohammad[the Former Prime Minister] sacked him.
Apparently the taste of POWER never left his tongue. He is still after it.
Since the last General Election in which his party made some gains he have made attemps to launch a peaceful coup. The ruling National Coalition won the election with a handsome majority. However, the Opposition managed to rest five states from the National Front.
Malaysians as a whole is used to the fact that the National Front Coalition will always win a tw0-third majority in the Parliament. Not this time around. Thus, the ruling party was seen as considerably weakened. To rub salt into the NF's wound, five states was won by the Opposition People's Coalition.
From day one of the new Government, Anwar Ibrahim yelped and yelped at the Government's heels. Come August, he said to the press, he will ahve enough numbers to form a new Federal Government. This means dislodging the National Front Coalition from power.
A bluff is never to be believed.
Prior to this he have mentioned several dates earlier on which he will become the Prime Minister. So far, those are only words.
Last thursday, Dr Wan Azizah, the Opposition leader in the Malaysian Parliament, resigned her parliamentary seat and Anwar offered to defend it in the coming by-election.
What surprised the political pundits here is the fact that the seat,Permatang Pauh, formerly won by Dr Wan Azizah,is the safest seat for him. Dr Wan Azizah is Anwar's wife.
Critics say that if only Anwar is that strong why doesn't he go for just any seat? Why does he have to hide behind his wife sarong?
This only pointed to the allegations that even his own party, the PKR, is not confident of him winning just any seat. So, why not cuddle him in a safe seat of Permatang Pauh?
