Just thinking.
8/4/2008 6:50:26 PM
Here, I'm alone. Just the way I want it.My thoughts are always going round and round, ending up,in or out of my soceity. This is a small community. Rural, rustic and almost heavenly when compared to places like, say, Zimbabwe.
A funny opening to our morning paper,"Government thinking of revising DOWNWARD the pump prices of diesel and petrol in the country.
WEll, what do you know? is it psossible? Of course it has everything to do with the price of crude oil on the international market. However, the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research [MIER]says; Hold on, for a minute.
Yes, I do agree with MIER. Even if the government can still afford the subsidy, other factors should be taken into account. What about the environment, the public transport system and pollution.
Just because the by-election is around losing the Permatang Pauh Parliamentary is a slap in the face, the National Front Government should be constant in its policy. The people so far have accepted the price of petrol and diesel in the country.
At this price, it seems that our people have made the beeline for our poor public transport system. It is not yet a rush as in other countries. Give the public more time and they love it like duck taking to water.
Less private vehicle on the roads meant less pollution. Holding the price of oil and gas and this level at least in Malaysia, is tantamount to disciplining the public that mass transport is the answer to our curse, traffic jam.
Above all, there is no unrest around. None is expected. Hopefully, all is well.
