Weird Book-Buying 8/2/2009 12:32:40 AM Just received the June results from my publisher. It was good to see the 2009 "Write Ways To Win Writing Contests" continuing to sell well, but also puzzling to see the previous 2004 edition also achieving good sales right up to June 30, 2009. Why would people buy an old edition, when a brand new, revised and expanded edition is simultaneously available? Not only does the new edition have more pages and more information, but it is selling at a much more attractive price. In fact, it's currently on sale for only $11.25 at Amazon. So why pay $14 or more for an edition that's now over five years old, has less features, less pages and even carries some out-of-date information? It doesn't make sense, unless maybe buyers think that if a book is more expensive it must of necessity be superior to the cheaper product? This is certainly not the case here, so I urge everyone who reads this blog that if you're thinking of purchasing "Write Ways To Win Writing Contests", make sure you're buying the new 2009 edition. It's the one that costs less and has the words "REVISED EXPANDED EDITION" on the cover.
