Awaken From Slumber!
1/31/2010 7:32:57 AM    [ Flag as Inappropriate ]

We readers and writers communicate through words, hoping some message will connect our hearts, minds and lives in a memorable and lasting way. This brief little blog is my way of expressing the mystery of the interweaving, like climbing vines, of our lives together. This is the epiphany of our personal journeys meeting here today.

"Hello there!" you greet me with a smile, a nod, and some friendly back-fence chit-chat.

"Oh my, what were you just saying?"

Hurriedly, I am already on to the next subject in my mind, "Where will I go? What will I do?" and, "What will I say when I get there?"

But first, I have to dispense with you, without you knowing you are dispensed with. Terrible person I have become, but I simply cannot hang around. I have work to do!

"I am sure we could talk like this all day, but look! We have whiled away the hour simply chatting here."

Mindlessly, you blather on, irrespective of the intonation of my speech.

I chuckle when I think about the frivolity of it all.

Daily we navigate life's traffic using as our vehicles interesting words, prerequisite small-talk and trivial banter, whenever our paths serendipitously cross.

Suddenly, we realize we have forgotten ourselves. "No time. There is so much I must do," we urgently self-proclaim. We fidget and surreptitiously take glances at our timepieces. Wait! Was it not mere words that have drawn us here today? Words. What power these little letters have over our lives. Even time stands still in their presence!

Strange, though we may never have met, it is feels as though we, like innocent children, were just laughing over some silly thing or another that we adults have long forgotten. Shame. We then went our separate ways, did important things, and became who we were to become. Now we are like Rip Van Winkle awakening from a long slumber, magically meeting with our minds here today. What happened? All of that living just to connect we, two wee little dots?
