Going to Oxford Orphanage for homecoming
10/7/2008 12:24:52 AM
It is time once again for me to travel up Oxford, North Carolina. I am getting excited just thinking about the loved ones I will see once I get to the orphanage. If you don't already know, this is the home where I grew up. This year I am not staying in the hotel, I am staying in a friend's condo on the golf course. My friend grew up in Oxford and is on the board of a local bank and spends one week a month visiting family and conducting business.
So we plan to leave Southport on Thursday and travel for 3-4 hours to Oxford.

I have many friends who will be there this year. On Friday we will hang out with whoever has already arrived. Most people don't arrive until late Friday or Saturday. We will have lunch, once again, on Saturday, at the Thousand Dollar Spring. It is just a small thing but growing up, it was huge. The rolling hills on the campus of the home are outrageously beautiful this time of year and I am hoping to see some change in the leaves. There are many one hundred year old oak trees on campus and they are beautiful.

It is nice to wander around the land, which used to be our farms, and spend time talking about the years we were there. Most people don't understand what it is like to spend time once a year with many brothers and sisters who were reared in an orphanage. Hey guys, it was great and there is no better home than Oxford Orphanage.

I will write a story on my trip when I return to let you know how the weekend was spent. I will post pictures of the home on my website, which is https://shelbyadamslloyd.com

Good reading to all
