revampings and other.... 7/26/2003 5:47:26 PM various updates to my website..
I was playing around a lot with my ms paint program and did some redesigning of my web site, Writings From The Grave. The archive will have a slight new look and some to bio. I am not going to put all my energy into the rivary with Poppy (using humor to defuse it,) but I could see something like that coming -- might of seen it coming six years ago but it took a story like Room For One More to see it surface. Hell some of the readers of my site are actually showing interest in Hasan Abood. It must of been the teaser I did on his story Sarah. They wanted some teasers for this and basically what I was writing for a teaser was too long so I came up with the two sentence teaser.
"It is all within one riddle. A horror in the eyes of a woman named Sarah."
I have a few up on the specualtive journal too so go and give them a read -- one titled Wheaton, Illinois. I basically pulled out my theological background on this one, but with an element of what I had been writing in the recent years. Think if Frank Peretti was to colaborate with Bram Stoker. The result of this one creates an atmospheric kind of horror that changes everything for me. It is a morbid piece where I was using Wheaton as the setting -- this is not the first time I used Wheaton, Illinois, as a setting of a story. This is the first time in six years that I actually used a verse from the Bible to introduce a story. I had used verses before in an older story that I penned, actually two I did this with.
My second dark epic -- Shadow of Dys is now on the specultive as well. I don't post my poems too often on the journal there but this is the one that is worth being there. This is the one that I had some of the poems already written, and with each poem in the epic they could stand on their own as well but putting them together gave them a perspective that was more hauntly sinster. I was shocked that Elizabeth Lucas-Taylor said I just put Dante to shame, and that is referring to the poem -- Pacione's Inferno. Dante is a master who had the ability to be dark and deliver a lot of political commentary at the same time -- Burning Sodom refers to this as well. I am shocked that I am able to pull off a second epic -- it was with the debut on AuthorsDen I belted out an epic, the dark 9/11 epic, The Seasons Of Black September.
The one thing I wished more my short stories got the traffic more than the poems but either way it is good though, basically shown my strength in both places. The poetry is just too easy for me to pull off. I wonder the questions of what my teachers would say when they'd see what I am doing on here -- remembered when I told one teacher that I was writing horror. She actually was shocked that I was able to pull this kind of writing off, and she wished I wrote happier.
