That Jesus Man (song)
9/29/2008 7:18:31 PM
This a beautiful song that I wrote several years ago. I used to sing and play the piano for the church, but I can't do either anymore. I would like to find someone that that could learn it and sing it for me. I can't sing very well anymore, but because the Lord gave me the words the song will always be in my heart and I do sing it quite often for the Lord.
THAT JESUS MAN
By Myrtle Poor ©
There was a lowly manger in Jerusalem that day,
Where the horses and the cattle were meekly eating hay.
Then a light came from heaven, shining brighter than the sun
For in that lowly stable was born God's only Son.
His hands are big, his arms are strong, His heart is full of care,
And when my life is burdened with things I can not bear
Along came this Jesus man, his arms outstretched in care
and with one great big tender hand He wipes away my tears.
From the manger in Jerusalem to the Cross of Calvary
Went Jesus from a baby to the shores of Galilee
He preached, he healed, and He helped the people all along the way.
Then He went to Mount Calvary, so that people may be saved.
Listen wicked sinner, to Jesus calling you.
He died on Mount Calvary, gave his life for men like you.
The blood ran from his hands and face and water from His side,
That you and I my brother might find a place to hide.
Oh! Backslider, hear my words! Turn from your wicked ways
For I can tell you of a man that has prepared a better way
He will wash away all sin and strife and set your soul at rest.
And on that final morning you will be with all the blest.
