Oh My...Great-Grandmother took Madison "bye-bye" today....

Oh sure...I'm active..I don't sit in a rocker and knit..and I may be an aging relic...but I sure do my best to pretend I'm not!.... Today really set me back...about two decades!
Okay...visiting in Tennessee, enjoying my 25 yr old grandson, (who I raised til 15)... so he's still my little baby...(don't laugh)...Now he's trying to raise this darling two year alone...and he's doing a fantastic job... but I managed to convince him that I'm capable of taking care of her for a few hours...duh... Showered, dressed, full makeup, piled my hair on top of my head, jeans, t-shirt, bling, and suede boots...(don't all great-grannies dress this way?)...and so I dressed her...(jeans, pink t-shirt, jean jkt, sneakers that have silver bling, and a matching beret' with pink trim on her precious little head...) and we were almost ready.... "Purse?" so...I found her a little satin bag and then she wanted "money?"...so we scrounged $2 and one quarter...she was elated!...Buckled her into the carseat...(in the backseat)...this is new to me...I see it all the time..but remember...I haven't taken care of little ones in bi-jillion years... so...I was given instructions of these new and improved rules! Ok...now we are going, "bye-bye"... Found a huge 99cent store...and a green Five dollar bill....she picked up about 20 toys...and bubbles... as she threw them in the basket, I'd throw some back out...(I remembered that trick alright...hehe) then...we ended up with 3 golden books, 2 teddy bears, one baby doll, and bubbles).... she was very good! Everyone smiled and told her she looked beautiful with her beret'...She knew what they were saying...smiled and squiggled her nose... Later, we went to Logan's steakhouse... (I need beef)...so...15 minutes after parking, I finally dragged her out of the car, with "only 2 toys"...and off we went. Nice booth, and a booster chair... Sure...easy! Well, I got her seated...and she was so excited...and I noticed one man two booths over winking at her and she squiggled the nose again...giggled... Then... a blonde lady began waving at her...and she thought that was "better than Hannah Montana"... Then...they deliver the hot yeast rolls and butter...I'm starving..as usual...and so is she... Two bottomless pitts...a big one and a tiny one! I was so busy tearing off buttered rolls and she wanted part of my salad...(not knowing what she can eat well yet...I cut everything into mini-mini-sizes... and she ate faster than I could cut... Okay...Everything was exciting to her... She noticed everything...the TV with tennis game..."gamma...ball".... "more".....Dink (drink)... and she'd color sorta... and then Thank you God...the chicken nuggets and fries arrived... I cut into more teensy pieces...and then I fixed my baked potato, and began cutting my steak...when she said... "meat".... This kid didn't want the chicken nuggets...she wanted the steak! well...wasn't going to happen! What would I do if she choked ? Ok... I didn't want to share... then.. I gave her some of the baked potato...she loved that...but still wanted the roll & butter... She flirted with the cute waiter...kept pointing at him..."nice".... He was a cute young man...and he brought her more colors, and another drink...and a bib... and...just waited on her like she was royalty... Several people stopped by to admire her...and she'd squiggle the nose....and... by then... I'm still starving... "asked for a to-go box".... and... was sweating...literally... Asked the "nice" waiter to bring me a nice bag to pack all this food, babies, toys, etc...and so I packed up... got her down, and she discovered a huge Wurlitzer jukebox in the lobby playing country music...so she began dancing... yes...dancing... so the crew of waiters/waitresses...began clapping and she thought she was really something... so I had to convince her it was time to go to the car.... Piled her in back, buckled her in...while I was breathing heavily...and then...she wanted her "cookies"... Nope.... So.. she had her "dink" that the nice guy put into a childsized plastic togo cup...and was so happy... she pointed at everything... noticed the billboards... the trees, the cars, you name it...she was on cloud nine... Then I said... "Time to go home missy"...and she said... "no gamma"... well... she was on a roll...but gamma was ready to hand her back over to my grandson, and I was more than eager to go back to b e d.....
So much for energy.... I'd better remove "babysitting" from my resume'....... as I squiggle my nose....and smile! lindalaw
