Life Lessons For Little Ones
11/27/2009 2:07:13 PM    [ Flag as Inappropriate ]

I have been wanting to get on here since surgery Tuesday, I just didn't have the energy. I have not talked with my doctor in any length and I will not be able to talk to him until Dec. 9th.
My husband told me that after the surgery he talked to the doctor and got the impression that he had not expected to have to take that much out. After they have determined it is cancer the doctor goes back in and takes a bigger chunck out than the original piece. This cancer is much more invasive which means it can spread more. He started to take it out of the one side of right breast and ended up on other side of that same breast.
I do not think that sounds very good. I have to talk to the doctor and ask some questions, but am pretty sure that my body won't take that chemo. I have sensitivities to milk, some drugs that normal people can take. I am 51 and still look pretty young, but I took the real age test on the computer last year. I asked my mom what she thought my age was and she guessed 82. I told my husband to guess what my mom guessed and he said 82. So that pretty well tells you how fit and healthy I really am. I feel like I am 82.
I have decided to live out my life and not get sick from the chemo so I can enjoy seeing my daughter one last time for sure in Oklahoma. Some people will think that I just don't have the guts to take getting sick, but that is not the reason at all.
My grandmother got cancer at the age of 69. The doctor told my grandfather that she would live about two years if she took chemo and if she did nothing she would live about two years. From the first treatment she was sick and miserable for almost a year. She died after about 10 months. Some people will say that there is new technology that changes everyday, and that is true, but I am made like her and I do not choose this treatment for me.
I absolutely love my life and am not trying to get out of anything if I really thought my body could do that I would. I am not afraid of losing my hair, because then I could have any color that I wanted. I used to be a hairdresser. I have talked to all of my kids and they are coming around. My daughter is still hopeful, but I told her not to get her hopes up.
In my first book I tell how I thought for 6 weeks that my daughter was going to die, when she was 13 years old. I had to learn to let her go so that God could lead her to Oklahoma. Now I have to let go of my life here so that I can go be with God in heaven. Jesus is my Lord and Saviour. I do not care about pleasing people, but just Him.
I do not know how people can get through normal life without Him let alone something like this. Last night I was so excited about my changing life I could not sleep. I think the key to letting go is not to fight the facts that are playing out. All this is a change in my life and nothing like the end at all.
My mom and I went to Walmart yesterday and I made someone cry. That was sad. It was my daughter-in-law's stepmother. Before I went in for the second surgery she had asked me what I wanted her to tell our granddaughters when they ask her questions. I did not even know what to say until that night it popped into my mind what to tell them. I told her to tell them that I am not afraid, and that I am going up to see their little brother or sister.
I do not like the thought of leaving my family, but we will all be together in the end anyway if they are saved, and living for Jesus. My son is going back to church because of this situation and that is a miracle right there. Until later - Lori
