Looking Forward 1/7/2009 6:19:52 PM After poring over blogs and editorials, and listening to folks in the coffee shop, it's safe to say there are strong opinions and feelings about 2008. It sure was a year to remember. . . Was it a good year for me? Well, Stock Market aside, yes it was a great year. I'll speak for our family and report that everyone is healthy, we gained a wonderful son-in-law in October, our family enjoyed the Christmas season together and we also saw many friends over the two week holiday season. We're alive, well and looking forward to 2009.
I guess my New Year's resolutions are the same as every year: Write more, watch what I eat, exercise at least three times a week, watch less news (it only depresses me), connect with friends and family on a regular basis, and help my husband plan a few road trips so when the weather improves, we can explore parts of the north and southwest.
I also have to "hit the throttle" and finish my novel - my writer friends have been very encouraging in that department. In the mean time I'm composing poems and polishing up a few short stories for my collection.
No predictions to throw out except that 2009 will prove to be very interesting. How's that for insight?
But really, my goal is to make a difference in the world, even if it's only a tiny difference. The written word is a good place to start and so is a ready smile. So the next time we meet, I will have a big smile ready and waiting. Happy New Year.
