Where Dogs donít Die
Joyce McDonald Hoskins
Iím a writer. In addition to novels I write short fiction stories and non-fiction essays. Like most writers, I like to read. As a reader I hate it when the dog dies. I can take it, maybe not well, but I can take it in real life, but fiction should take me to a place where the dog does not die.
Whether reading or writing I love characters who are well defined by their attributes and flaws. A one dimensional character doesnít impress me in real life and I certainly donít want a fictional character who lacks depth. The only exception would be intentional.
I feel the same way about animal characters. I want to see and feel their uniqueness.
Iím not sure theoretically, if there is life after death for animals, but I do believe there are animals in eternity.
Someday I will be: Where Dogs donít Die.
