Do Hits On The Den Mean Anything?

I've received more than my fair share, but is this just a curiosity item, or does it translate into more exposure and possible purchase of your work?
I never quite understood the "individual hits", although they come fast and furious at times. I know people have at least looked at something, but is that it?
If so, I will gladly take it. I started my free membership in September and within 2 months before upgrading to a "gold", I had 2,000 hits. After I became a gold member, They went through the roof. It is February now, so in five months I have received over 13,000 individual hits.
I thank the Author's Den community for your support. It is even more satisfying to have become pen pals with other writers on "The Den". What a gratifying experience, even if it does not equate to selling one single book.
I am very fortunate to be part of this unique family, even if I don't really understand the "hits" business.
Blessings to all,
Terry D. Robertson
