Scheduled for Heart Surgery 4/15/2006 5:02:31 PM I will be entering the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City for surgery this Wednesday, April 19th. The surgery is called surigcal ablation and is used to cure atrial fibrillation which is an irregular heart beat problem. The surgery is called minimally invasive because it does not involve opening the chest cavity and placing the patient on the heart/lung machine. Instead they will make an incision under each arm and go in from the sides to work on the problem which includes creating a maze of scar tissue that will hopefully cure the irregular heartbeat. They will also be removing the left atrial appendage from the heart, which they tell me I do not need, but could hold a blood clot later on that could cause a stroke. The procedure was developed by a Dr. Wolf from Cincinati, hence the surgery is known as the Wolf Mini-Maze. I appreciate everyone's prayers no matter what your religious affiliation. I believe God will bring me through this and that he has a ministry for me once I recover which includes finishing my current book and holding regular Bible studies. jjimclifford.aol.com
