Weird Lucid Dream

The phone woke me up. I scrambled out of bed thinking, "How come I'm sleeping in a dream, anyway?" In an office-like room I grabbed the phone off a very dusty desk, and then placed the receiver to my ear.
"Hello." I said, breathlessly.
"Vic?" a female voice asked. The voice was familiar. It had a French accent.
"Madeline?"
"Vic, why you keep me waiting?"
There was no doubt about it. It was my ex-wife, now long dead.
"Where are you?" I asked, unbelievingly. "And how can you be calling me?"
"I wait at the theater like you tell me. I call from a payphone. Why you not here?"
"Humor me, Madge," I said. "Tell me what the date is."
"The date? You forget, colis? It is Janurary 10, our wedding anniversary!"
After a moment of silence, I asked, quietly, "And the year?"
"Mon grande fou, it is 1959. We married 6 years today. You forget?" she asked, a pout in her voice.
"Madge, this is going to come as a shock to you," I said hesitantly, "but you've been dead for 11 years."
"You crazy? I not dead. I wait for you at the theater, colis! You take something? You drunk? I don't even know you 11 years ago. Chris de fou!"
"Listen carefully, babe," I said, softly. "I'm in the year 2008. You and I split up in 1959. I know this is just a lucid dream, and I am creating it, so I am going to try to bring us together. Hang on."
I held the phone tightly in my hand as I concentrated on bringing my dead ex-wife into my presence. There was movement in the air in front of me, like tiny light blue crackling streamers trying to form into something solid. I watched intently. Just as I thought materialization was about to take place...I woke up!
Thinking back over the years I did recall, vaguely, meeting my wife at a movie theater on our 6th
anniversary. I went straight from work and I was late.
From the moment the dream started I knew I was dreaming, but as in other lucid dream states I never seem to be able to control the situation. When I do get some kind of response to my efforts, I invariably awaken before I get to enjoy the fruits of my attempts.
Hmm. Back to the drawing board. I might learn 'control' one day.
