How My Life Has Changed

We had decided to replace our carpet in our living room, dining room, and kitchen floors with laminate and ceramic tile when I was still in treatment. My husband had to block off the dining room so that the puppy could not get in there while he was working and things that were painted would dry. Noelle in the meantime freaked out a little, because her whole life revolves around the living room, dining room and the kitchen. She is so scared of everything that she has not been in all of the rooms in our house in six months that she has lived with us.
On a Saturday of working on the floor our one son came out with his son. He come in goofing off like eleven year old boys do and not paying any attention was making weird sounds and Noelle stood up and just started barking really hard at our grandson. I told him to stop and he thought I was kidding, I then said stop again only louder. Noelle thought that she was trapped. I told our grandson to go to the garage and shut the door behind him. Luckily he listened. After a few more days our Pastor came to visit and once again Noelle started to growl at him and this time started to walk toward him and I stood in the middle of them and told the Pastor to go out to the garage. A couple more days went by and my Mom came down and Noelle did the same to her and she had seen her some before. I had to make the decision of putting her to sleep or endanger anyone that came to our house. It was not responsible of us to keep her in her state of mind. It was relly hard to say goodbye to her, but knew she would be much better off.
I got ready that morning and took some pictures of her. I had to lie to her though which broke my heart. I could never pet her in the morning. I would try many times, but she would swing her big head and barely keep from hitting her long nose on the bar to get away. The only time I could pet her is when she would lay on the couch at night and I would sometimes kiss her on her head and tell her that I loved her and I was glad she was with us.
She finally had started to trust me a little with the arrival of the new puppy. She was even getting used to that pup jumping on her sometimes, which was a miracle cosidering that when we first got Chloe she acted like she could kill her. I asked Noelle if she wanted to go for a walk. I was looking forward to taking her for walks when I got stronger after treatment. She was such a big dog I was afraid she would pull me all over the place. She jumped off of the couch so happy. It was so sad knowing that I was about to take her to her last stop in life. She really loved the ride in the car and was really good at the vet, but she was brave and went off with the vet's wife.
I will write about the puppy later. Lori
