Friday 26th November was the Peak Sports Derbyshire & Cheshire Cricket League Annual Dinner. I was the League's chosen speaker, and although I have done it before I was still quite nervous. I needn't have been , because by the time I got to speak everyone had had their fair share of alcohol and were in a party mood. The speech went down quite well, despite me missing one of the clubs (the idea is to make at least one humorous comment about every club in the league). A word of advice though, never try to write a speech out word for word beforehand - it just doesn't work!
Friday 3rd December - an evening in the Manchester Christmas Markets. These wonderful markets appear every year and bring a fantastic atmosphere to the city centre, made even more festive this year by the snow on the ground. I had a spicy lamb phanne, a mug of gluhwein, and several glasses of excellent German beer before retiring for the night, but I'll no doubt be back for more next week!
Ole And Zac And The Port Of Tumbattle is now getting the Search Inside treatment on Amazon. I've created the pdf and downloaded the cover from the publisher's website. Just waiting for confirmation before uploading it. Fingers crossed - it should generate some Christmas sales.
From March 1993 until well into the 21st century I wrote, edited and published the Whaley Bridge Cricket Club newsletters, detailing the events of the the Cricket Club, as well as the "goings on" of the members and friends. I have started to scan them and publish them in a blog. They may not mean much to the casual observer, but they should gain a loyal following in Whaley Bridge!
