That's What I Think

Sunday I got blasted with a migraine! Hell...
It started out like any good sunday does...blue sky, sunshine. Me and my sweetheart were going to go work together on a winery job he has. Off we went prepared for cold but enjoying the company of each other. We'd gotten up early and packed a lunch, tossed in some extra coats in the van and took off.
We are listening to a book called "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo" on audio. This is one of our passtimes when we drive long distances...we decided on a book we'd like to experience and get it in audio format just for those occasions. It is finally getting interesting. BUT I digress...
The winery was so beautiful...and oh the lack of sound in countryside was glaring but sublime! We did the work in tandom, like a well honed couple who knows each other's movements. Then I felt it coming....damn it.
And if any of you get these awful headaches you know as I did that morning that it was going to be a doozy! I don't know what triggers these or if I can really call it a bonafide migraine. But when I am outside working or gardening I can get these hell-acious headaches! I wonder if I'm allergic to something... Well it came and squashed me. It built up with time and by the time we'd left after 3 hours or so it was really hurting. We couldn't head home as we were visiting my daughter in the hospital. She had major surgery and was not feeling well. When I got there I could barely walk in. So didn't stay too long as I was in horrible pain.
When I get these headaches I also get panic. I think..."This is way too painful to be a headache, I must have a tumor". I always drift to thinking the worst first... So I got shaky and nervous and anxious. We still had an hour of driving till we could reach home. I had to sit with a coat on my head to block the beautiful sunshine because the light just hurt too much.
When we got home I went directly to the shower as the spray can sometimes really relieve the pressure of the headache, but this didn't work this time. We had run out of hot water. So then I just went to bed. I slept for almost 3 hours. Sweetheart came into the room and rubbend my back and head for about an half hour and then I felt all better. I was still shaky for the evening but knew I didn't have a tumor!
In the face of anxiety it is so easy to go to the dark side. Thank God I have my sweetheart to pull me back and to care for me so deeply. I love you honey.
