Returning Birds

With the advent of glorious summer weather, even before spring's official arrival, the summer birds are returning too soon. It is with great delight that we have seen and heard them--the winter wren and robin singing their beautiful songs; the phoebes and red-winged blackbirds looking for likely nesting spots.
But while enjoying an early spring with almost summer-like weather, we humans worry about the birds now that the weather has returned to more seasonal temperatures. Will they be able to survive, we wonder; will the cold and lack of bugs make their lives too difficult to handle.
I suspect that they have, over the millions of years of existence, survived such trauma before and they cope with things as they come along. But we, who worry about every little event that happens to us, worry about them too.
The snow has all gone from our forest and gardens and flowers are coming up quickly in the warmth of the sun. We need rain now because everything is so dry. We cannot rule nature and we too must learn to take things as they come and cope with life as we are able.
