The world with Newfoundlands!

Dogs are fun! Fun to raise, fun to train, and fun to live with. That is, if you get the right breed. With that said, just go ahead and get a Newfoundland and place an order for lots of extra towels.
Newfoundland dogs! The best breed of dog ever! Do I sound excited about my Newfy puppy? You bet I am. I have waited to get this puppy for twenty years. In the meantime I have settled for poodles, labradors, etc. Don't get me wrong, these are fabulous breeds also. In fact, my poodles were the best. None of them were yappy, mis-behaving, or obnoxious. Did I spell that correctly? Anyway, they were all a joy to have in the family. Then we went from the miniature poodles to this giant lab named Maverick. He is a wonderful well mannered dog.
The problem with the poodles was tripping over them. Did not have that problem with the lab though. He was a whopping 120 pounds and really too big for his breed. We didn't trip over Maverick but his tail was lethal when he was happy. (I had bruises.) Maverick tore through his first crate as a puppy of five months. He always managed to get out of it without opening the door. After the company replaced the crate with a much stronger one the problem was solved. Maverick became content with his new den. He is getting on in years, ten and a half now, but still going strong with the tail. I almost wish he wasn't such a happy dog.
I finally acquired my Newfy puppy from the best breeder in the world, Nanny Newfs in West Virginia. Bonnke is almost a year old and has been the best puppy ever to raise. Okay, I lied! He drools everywhere, is always drenched with water from his lips to the end of his tail, thinks he has to be in everyones lap and is very hard to contain due to his size. At ten months he was already 31 inches tall at the shoulder, and weighed 122 pounds. When Maverick is at the water dish, Bonnke plows right on through and helps himself. All of these are behaviors that we are working through. I am not complaining however, because in all this, he is the sweetest gentle giant ever. And guess what! His tail doesn't hurt at all. So, I am very happy with my wet droolly dog, (I must remember to clean that spot of drool off the ceiling), I just need to invest money in a good towel company. When you visit my home, you will be handed a small hand towel for your arms and a bath towel for your lap. It's a simple fix, and I love simple fixes.
