Bluewater: the term sailors use for deep water, far from shore. Our church is named "Bluewater Mission," which lets you know that we undertake hitherto unexplored projects such as opening a house to all comers in an economically depressed neighborhood, consorting with prostitutes and helping those who have been forced into the system to escape, and planting prayer groups and hopefully churches in under-reached nations. Our newest endeavor is a writers group.
About six of us met with four techies who have a vision to film videos enhancing our church website, and possibly to do some fun, significant entries for You Tube. The cool thing about it is, we will be totally symbiotic: most of the techies can't write a story to save themselves, and most of us are clueless about technology. A marriage made in heaven!
Yesterday, as the head techie explained his vision to produce several short videos (research shows that 3 minutes is about the max for much-viewed sites), I saw the eyes of our writers begin to glaze over. "Don't freak out," I broke in. "As Jordan preached today, it's all right to fail. We'll learn to do this stuff together."
They began to relax and listened with renewed interest. Some of the techies have extensive, expensive equipment and much experience filming. All they need is scripts. Onward! Upward!
The URL for our church website is www.bluewatermission.org
See you there!
