"Cultural Catholic"

Thanks! I've been really pleased with how a catholic (small "c") community functions - it's very different than how I was raised to think of Papism generally. The really beautiful thing of it is that sin is ... well, we're all just people in this world and that's that.
Great blog! Having been brought up Protestant then converting to Catholicism, I've seen both sides of the coin. Something I've always felt is that as Protestants, we feel we've failed if we can't avoid sinning. If we can't live almost unblemished lives. Not so with Catholics. I'm not sure. It seems something in their philosophies. Many Catholics know quite well they are imperfect; therefore, they avoid the "stress" of thinking they must live that near-perfect life. You do the best you can or think you can and confess on a regular basis (ask for forgiveness), although I personally do not confess in the church. I confess with a direct line! Traces of my Protestant upbringing.
