The next forty minutes were uneventful, but at 11:55 Will heard the naval helicopter pilot over the radio say “We have movement in the water. I repeat there is movement in the East River. Do you copy base?” “This is base, we copy. Please elaborate.” “Yes, base. I see green, white and amber lights. Getting brighter now.” Heavy waves were crashing the shoreline. Matt pointed to one of the television screens. Apparently, MSNBC had the foresight to place a camera toward the river. “Look guys!” Matt shouted “there they are. The massive space vessel slowly emerged from the cold icy waters of the East River. Her steel black hull glistened in the night sky as it banked right and began moving faster as it gained altitude. It rose above the UN then continued to climb higher than the empire state building. The crowd went wild. People clapped cheered and danced in the street. There were thousands of flashing cameras blinking on and off like fire works in the night. The ship glided quietly through rain until it was positioned directly over the United Nations. The vessel was so large that it protected everyone in the streets from the rain. Without warning two oval panels on the underside of the ship side opened. Two smaller ships emerged and began their decent onto the blocked off area of the street below. Will glanced at the clock. “Midnight. At least they are prompt.” Matt joined Will at the window. He nodded in agreement. “Yeah, and they do know how to make an entrance.” Will and Matt watched all the action from the window while Art operated the robotic cameras. The mini ships touched down roughly two hundred feet apart. They appeared to be the same color and material as the mother ship above. A coat of arms adorned each ship on the right side of the doors. Exiting the first ship, were twenty tall slender blonde haired women wearing long flowing powder blue gowns trimmed in gold. The flowers in their hair were also blue and gold. Each gracefully carried a shinny cobalt blue ball slightly lager than the size of a basketball. The power source inside gave off a soft glow. The women lined the carpet on both sides with the lights then formed one large circle in between the two ships. In contrast to the first ship were the men. Thirty strong rugged military men marched quickly onto the street. All of the men had dark hair and a few had short beards. Each took their place beside one of the glowing balls. They wore black pants with a thin blood red stripe down the side and red shirts. They each carried a flag and showed the coat of Arms Identical to the one on the ships. The three quarter length black capes were also trimmed in red. If it were not for the wind blowing the capes, you would not have noticed the weapons concealed under them. The remaining guards took up positions on the outer circle facing the crowds while the women looked inward ignoring the presence of the men; neither, the men or women spoke a single word. The crowds enjoyed every second of the arrival proceedings. Every pair of eyes on the east side of Manhattan was glued on the ship. An extremely large ball of blue crackling static began to form directly underneath the space ship. As the static electricity inside the ball began to build, the ball grew larger and larger. Suddenly, there was the deafening sound of rolling thunder as the big blue magnetic ball fell rapidly to Earth. Some in the crowd covered their ears while others gasped and quickly backed away. The women from the visiting ship simply fell to one knee as if they were given a secret command for their ears only. The ball hit the ground directly in the center of the circle with a loud thunderclap that could be heard for miles. When the ball collapsed a strange mist hugged the ground like the kind you see burning off a country field on a cool spring morning. The smell of lavender filled the air. It seemed to have a calming effect on the crowd. Appearing from the mist in the center of the circle stood the Supreme Chancellor, ruler of the planet. Flanked just slightly behind him were two well-built athletic types carrying locked cases the size of microwave ovens. One case was bronze the other silver. The leader proceeded down the red carpet waving to the crowd as he passed. He was a tall man with a short white beard and salt and pepper hair that flowed down the back of his neck. He wore Royal Blue pants with a matching coat that stopped at the knee. The guards stood like statues as the flags a top the six-foot poles fluttered in the night. It truly was a spectacular sight to see. After being greeted by the head of the UN, the visitor took the podium. “Greetings people of Earth.” Once again, the crowd went into frenzy. “I am Rotart I, Supreme leader of the planet Lazon. I have traveled a great many galaxies to be with you tonight. I carry a message that will bring joy and jubilation to all humans. |
