Mark your calander Victoria! One of Victoria's most celebrated book lanch will take place Sunday, March 1st, 2009 at the James Bay Community School (144 Oswego) at 7:00 pm.
This event has been our pet project for the past three months. A lot of planning and preperation and fine tuning of the event has been implemented.
In just over a month, Victoria will be overwhelmed and taken back by this hot new book. This is the first time in Victoria history that a five book series about the city has ever been published.
In preperation for this event, we have generated a lot of interest in the book and project from some of Victoria's most prominent leaders. Politicians, health care system, post secondary education facilities and community services have shown interest into wanting to know more.
The book and campaign has come at a time when the city is currently facing some of its most chanllenging issues of the century. The series is doccumenting history in the making.
This permanent record of dealing with mental, illness, addiction and homelessness by the city will become one of the most improtant doccuments of its history. This is the golden opprotunity to show the world that Victoria, BC is one of the most prominent cities to have taken such an assertive action against its social issues.
Victoria has put unrelentless effort in the past year to achieve many successes in a short period of time. It also recogognized other areas where more attention will have to be implemented in the next four years.
This is a very exciting time for Victoria. They have become more acceptable of change and are implementing new age tactics against a modern world problem.
This series had to be written. Many comments came back saying that it is about time that someone did. Others encouraged that the project is far too important to abort. Many stressed that Victoria needs this book series. There has not been a single negative word about this project. In fact, it has perked up the ears from those who have been informed of our project.
This book launch may become one of the most important events that any author has ever embarked upon. This is beyond just selling books, it may become on of the most celebrated books of Victoria history doccumenting real life.
Other publications about Victoria are tourist guides and promotional material. This is the first of its kind to go deep into the bowels of a city's infrastructure uncovering reality.
We invite all of Victoria to join us in one of the most historic events ever. March 1st, 2009 will become the start of a new era for The City of Victoria.
