Join Collective Voices as they present Poetry Extravaganza 2010, the 14th annual literary tribute honoring the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the MLK, Jr. Memorial Library, A "light fare" reception & author booksigning will follow performances.
Featured artists at this year's gala include Washington, DC Poet Laureate, Dolores Kendrick, as well as renowned poets Ty Gray-EL, Munday Nite, Brenardo, Ladi Di, Sistah Joy and more. Event MC will be Josephine Reed, host of WPFW literary talk show, "On The Margin." Musical performances by the Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers, Lorenzo Sands (bass), Sydney March (flute & sax) and James "Curley" Robinson (bongo).
This free-to-the-community poetry & arts celebration takes place in the library's lower-level Auditorium A-5 (capacity 325). While this is a general seating event, with seats available on a first-come, first seated basis, groups of 10 or more are encouraged to register in advance. This event will be recorded.
