Advertising Blitz in Canada

Date: 11/26/2009 - 12/5/2009
Time:
Location: Toronto
Category: Marketing
Summary: First Canadian advertising of Arctic novel
Details: The Australian advertising agency Publicitas of Sydney has arranged a pre-Christmas advertising campaign in Canada for the Arctic novel White Bird Black Bird.

Two display advertisements will appear in the Toronto Globe and Mail on November 28 and December fifth.

"This is my first serious attempt to reach a Canadian readership with my novel," said author Val Wake speaking from his home in Port Macquarie, Australia.

" The ad has a simple message. Alongside a picture of the cover is the text; The story of two capitals, Ottawa and Yellowknife, and the start of the native rights movement in the north.

' A rich and exciting read says American academic James Baskin in his blog nearlynothingbutnovels. blogspot.com."

Although White Bird Black Bird is a Canadian story is only available in one Canadian bookstore, the Yellowknife Bookcellar where part of the story is set.

Author Wake hopes to catch some of the Christmas trade. Last year he was able to arrange through Amazon a pairing with appropriate best sellers. This year the publisher has withdrawn this offer.
