Ailawishes Jackson native Erica Ferrell, also known as Ailaw- ishes, has gotten her feet wet in the book publishing world with her first book of poetry entitled, “Floetic Whispers.”
The book is a journal of her life experiences and observations in the form of poetry. It profiles the growth she has experienced in her life, including love, doubt, sensuality and heartbreak.
Now a resident of Atlanta, Ga., Ailawishes said she has enjoyed reading since she was a young child. She discovered her gift for writing poetry at the age of 20, while attending college at Alabama State University.
In Floetic Whispers, Ailawishes attempts to draw the real emotions and life experiences that others may find hard to speak out about and relate to. She said she hopes to uplift the spirits of her readers and motivate those who wish to become authors as well.
Concerning her choice to publish her journal of poetry, Ailawishes said, “I believe in dreams and know that you can be whatever you want in life. Success is my motivation every day. Writing is an art that I have a passion for.”
Floetic Whispers is available for purchase at all major bookstores nationwide.
Ailawishes is currently working on a series of children’s books, which will be available in the winter of 2010.
