| Joseph Tibman''s Murder of Lehman Brother''s, An Insider''s Look at the Global Meltdown gets a thumbs up and kudos from John Lanchester in The London Review of Books. |
The London Review of Books praises "The Murder of Lehman Brothers, An Insider's Look at the Global Meltdown" in its current issue released on Friday. This esteemed literary publication, much like the New York Review of Books, is highly selective in determining what books it will review. Typically flooded with book submissions, the London Review reached across the Atlantic to request copies for review by John Lanchester, the award winning author, who has an economic crisis book of his own set for release next year. Indeed, many of Lanchester's own views, as expressed in his review, are in perfect accord with the thought and analysis in Tibman's book.
Many financial crisis books have been released. The London Book Review, on Murder of Lehman Brothers interpretation of events commented that:
"Tibman offers a version which feels true ."
The review also noted that veteran senior Lehman investment banker Joseph Tibman has:

"a strong sense of Lehman’s history, including what Tibman sees as Fuld’s finest hour, the aftermath of 9/11...This doesn’t mean he lets Fuld off for his many mistakes, and Tibman is good on the way Fuld’s embattled, paranoid worldview had seeped into the mentality of the bank, and helped prevent people realising just how deep a hole they were in."
Tibman said, "It's terrific to see my book, published by an independent house, recognized by a review publication that typically reviews books peddled by the marketing machines of the largest publishers. In the LRB, the reviews tend to focus more on the topic than the book reviewed, but I was very pleased to see that the many views expressed by John Lanchester coincide closely with mine. It's rare that I come across another observer of the financial crisis, particularly one that hasn't worked in finance, whose opinions and interpretation of events agree so consistently with my own. I suppose that has something to do with his positive comments. For a first-time author, it's great to receive kudos from an original and award-winning author who is publishing a book on a similar topic in one of the world's most prestigious book reviews."
