“T: An Auto-Biography,” a new children’s book, published by Red Engine Press, aimed at eight to thirteen-year-old (or grades 3-8) will be formally launched at the Scotch Plains Library at 1927 Bartle Avenue in Scotch Plains, NJ on Saturday, April 21, 2007 from 1:00 to 2:30. The Friends of the Scotch Plains Library and the New Jersey Writers’ Society will sponsor the event, which is free and open to the public. There will be door prizes and refreshments.
“The book is a real auto-biography,” said Foster. “It’s about a Model-T Ford, along the same lines as Black Beauty. It tells of the life and times of the card from it’s ‘birth’ – right off Henry Ford’s assembly line in the early 1920s, through the Roaring Twenties, the Depression, World War II, a stint as a demolition derby car in the 1950s – and beyond.
“This is a wonderful book not only for children and their parents, but for grandparents to give – and read – with their grandchildren, since so many of the car’s ‘experiences’ will trigger their own memories,” said Foster. “In my many talks around the state for my other (non-children’s) books, I have talked to dozens of seniors who are looking for a book they can not only give to their grandchildren, but can read along and identify with.”
“T: An Auto-Biography” is delightfully illustrated by Kathe Gogolewski who has been a professional muralist and caricaturist for over twenty years.
“T: An Auto-Biography” is Foster’s first children’s book, although she has written more than a dozen children’s musical shows which have been performed numerous times throughout the state. She has also written two historical fiction novels, “LADIES: A Conjecture of Personalities” and “Garfield’s Train”.
Author Feather Schwartz Foster will sign copies of her book. Joyce Faulkner, a representative of Red Engine Press, the book’s publisher, will also attend.
“T: An Auto-Biography” is available at online and retail bookstores for $9.95. Inscribed and autographed copies are also available by visiting the author’s website at www.featherfoster.com.
