C. E. GATCHALIAN'S MOTIFS & REPETITIONS & OTHER PLAYS SHORT-LISTED FOR THIS YEAR'S LAMBDA LITERARY AWARD
Gatchalian becomes the first Filipino-Canadian writer to be nominated for a prestigious literary award
Vancouver writer C. E. Gatchalian's first book, Motifs & Repetitions & Other Plays (The Writers' Collective) has just been short-listed for the prestigious Lambda Literary Award, which honours the best in gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered literature.
Motifs & Repetitions & Other Plays has been named a finalist in the Drama category. Past Lambda Drama winners include Tony Kushner's Angels in America, Moises Kaufman's Gross Indecency, and Craig Lucas's What I Meant Was.
Other Canadian authors short-listed this year are Anne-Marie MacDonald, Brian Drader, Karen X. Tulchinksy and James C. Johnstone.
This year's Lambda Literary Awards Gala will take place on June 3, 2004 in Chicago.
The Lambda Literary Foundation, based in Washington, DC, is a non-profit organization devoted to the promotion of GLBT writing and writers. Besides sponsoring the annual Lambda Literary Awards, it publishes two renowned journals: the Lambda Book Report and the James White Review.
