Have you ever struggled to find a resource that meets the needs of the young people you are working with? Have you got a good idea for a youth work curriculum, but not sure how to write the session plans so they can be delivered effectively? Want an excellent piece of youth work to be shared and have longevity? Then commissioning Vanessa to write a bespoke resource pack might be the way forward.
Vanessa has wide experience of researching and writing resource packs across the youth work spectrum and specialises in informal education. Previous research has included focus groups with young people and professionals as well as more traditional forms of information seeking. As well as working for local authorities and voluntary sector children and young people services, Vanessa has also been commissioned by the BBC to write youth work resource packs for the highly acclaimed BBC3 series, The Baby Borrowers and Underage and Pregnant (read review in Children and Young People Now).
Want a more creative approach to evaluating projects? Want young people to be able to share their findings with other young people? Want to be able to showcase a good project to other professionals? Vanessa has been working on different ways to review and share learning. In Essex a Youth Scrutiny project has been evaluated with young people, councilors and professionals, resulting in a short diary-style film ‘Essex Youth Scrutiny Committee – The Journey’
