Exclusively on Kindle for $2.99: THE BLUE TATTOO

by Sophie Simons

Women
Four mothers on the poverty line in pre-Katrina New Orleans, abused and abandoned by fathers, lovers and husbands, decide to take control of their own destiny and get even through crime. Tamara, a stripper, is in love with a younger man, Vicki enamored of a worthless one. Elena has sworn off men altogether, and Pearl wishes her cop ex-husband were dead...

"If you enjoyed the movie THELMA & LOUISE, chances are this sexy Bourbon Street tale will be right up your alley." Perfect Pages Literary Management, Inc.

Excerpt
Elena nodded slowly, aware of three pairs of eyes fixed on her face as the women awaited her reaction. "It’s a brilliant plan, Vicki. All we'd be doing is taking misappropriated funds," she reasoned.
"Miss who?" Pearl asked, refilling the four glasses with cheap Riesling.
Elena raised hers in a toast. "Better it goes to us than the police. They're no better than carjackers. Harassing tourists coming off I-10 and taking stuff under false pretences. It's highway robbery."
“Exactly,” said Vicki.
"You sound like a lawyer. You a lawyer, Elena?" Pearl inquired.
"I did one year of law school."
"Oooh-la-la!"
"Perhaps you can figure a way to spring us out of jail once we're in there, then," Tamara interposed, arching an eyebrow at Elena. "These are the goddamn cops we're talking about holding up. A bank would be a smarter move."
Elena shook her head. "No, let’s stick with Vicki’s plan. Banks have metal detectors, video cameras, panic buttons, the works. Even if we got as far as grabbing the money, chances are we'd find exploding red dye in one of the bundles. And I saw on '48 Hours' how the average heist only brings in about twenty-five hundred bucks anyway."
"Not worth windin' up in the joint over," Pearl agreed. How embarrassing for Dep'ty Earl Green if she went to prison. He'd have to take care of the kids. Wouldn't be so footloose and fancy free then, the jerk.
"A bank hold-up takes two to seven minutes," Elena continued, getting into her stride. Incredible that this information had lodged in her memory, but then she'd always had a good head for facts and figures. "A bit longer is what I calculate for the police station."
They stared at each other with solemn faces. Could their dreams really be fulfilled in the space of ten minutes? Their children's future, their own personal happiness secured forever?
