Local Poet Honored At Tampa Writer's Conference
The winners for the 2003 EPPIE awards recognizing the best in electronically published literature were recently announced in Tampa, Florida.
E-Book Awards were given out in twenty categories. In addition, EPIC presented the annual Florence Moyer Service Award, which is nominated and voted upon by the membership, to Patricia White for her outstanding contributions to the organization and to electronic publishing.
Another special award, now in its second year, was the "Friend of E-Publishing Award," presented to an individual outside of the organization for his or her dedication to electronic publishing. This year the award went to Piers Anthony, who was also the EPICon 2003 keynote speaker.
Other winners included poet Joel L. Young, of Middleburg a Best Poetry winner for his collection of American Poetry, "American Lyricon: A Poet Sings of America," published by Synergebooks
"The collection was a personal mission for me. It's a book about America through poetry, music, and history." said Young. "This was a tremendous honor!"
