Thomasena Martin-Johnson, Educator, Poet, Public Speaker, Cross Cultural Communicator, and world traveler, has been honored by the American Registry as Professional of the Year 2013, for EXcellence, dedication, and success in Writing.
Thomasena, author of Post 1863 America the Beautiful and Caught Up Midnight Dessert, has been writing for more that twenty years and as a former teacher has taught writing longer than that. While teaching at Langston University, several collegues encouraged her to publish, thus Post 1863 America the Beautiful.
The inspiration behind this collection of poems was to let readers now how we feel about ourselves instead of somebody else assuming to know how we feel and and therefore has the knowledge to speak for us.Post 1863 gives the reader a glimpse inside the minds and the hearts of a specific group of people who has experience that no other people have experienced in America, the home of the free and the brave.
Caught Up Midnight Dessert is a collection of poems that sizzles as the readers submerges themselves in what Etta James sings about, and Koko Taylor is crying about; what James Brown is pleading for and Marvin Gaye speakes of. It is about the ultimate love, committed love, the kind ordained by the Great One.
Her next release, Across Cane River, is a novel that explores the conplexities of the Creole Culture. If you have not gotten your copies of the Books of Verse, check with Amazon.con or your nearest book store.
The novel will be released very soon.
