July - 2004 I just received a call that I was the winner of the Lyric Competition from American Songwriter Magazine !!!
I am the winner of a new Martin acoustic guitar valued at $350.00 and I am entered in the final competition at the year's end. At that time the 6 winning songs from 2004 competitions ( bi-monthly ) will be judged against each other and the winner takes a trip for 2 to Nashville and is given studio time and $1500.00 to make a demo of the song. So wish me luck ! I sent in one of my poems and added a chorus to it. It was a lyric competition, so NOW I need to write the music !!

Bluesy Guitar
generally speaking
you haven’t a prayer
with lips on your neck
in an overstuffed chair
just come when you want to
and come as you are
I’ll wring out some tears
from my bluesy guitar
imagine the feeling
of grass on your skin
with moonlight above
and the warmth slipping in
your hands stroking nature
your head full of stars
with rhythm so sweet
from my bluesy guitar
Chorus
my bluesy guitar
as it sings in the night
with hints of the love
in your eyes shining bright
your breath is the music
my heart listens to
complete in the comfort of you..
you’re humming a tune
of a passionate song
I’m playing by ear
but it shouldn’t be long
my fingers describing
the woman you are
between every note
of my bluesy guitar
Chorus
my bluesy guitar
as it sings in the night
with hints of the love
in your eyes shining bright
your breath is the music
my heart listens to
complete in the comfort of you..
you’re humming a tune
of a passionate song
I’m playing by ear
but it shouldn’t be long
my fingers describing
the woman you are
between every note
of my bluesy guitar
