Women Write resistance has accepted the poem, Blue is the Color, for their anthology.

Blue is the Color

That blue dress took her

places, flowered silk

with three buttons open

at the top, ruffled hem.

The way it belled

when she twirled

in the mirror,

propelling her

down Paris runway

or fashion show

in Milan.

The way boys

looked at her

when wind pressed

filmy fabric

against her hips

and thighs.

The way it floated up

around her waist

when daddy came

to take his due.
