Pasadena Weekly Names Carolyn to Women of Power and Substance List
Pasadena, CA--The Pasadena Weekly named 14 women to their list of "San Gabriel Valley women who make life happen" including Carolyn Howard-Johnson for literary activism. The list appeared November 10th edition.
Howard-Johnson is the author of the acclaimed novel This is the Place and of a collection of creative nonfiction, Harkening, and a chapbook of poetry, Tracings. All explore the corrosive nature of even subtle intolerance. She is also the author of USA Book News' Best Professional Book 2004, The Frugal Book Promoter: How to Do What Your Publisher Won't.
Howard-Johnson has also been honored by members of the California Legislature with Woman of the Year in Arts and Entertainment, by the Book Publicists of Southern California with their Irwin Award and by her community with a Character and Ethics Award for her efforts to promote tolerance with her writing.
In addition to Howard-Johnson the list includes Rachel Worby, the conductor of the Pasadena POPS Orchestra, Sherry Simpson Dean, Executive Director of the United Nations Association's Pasadena-Foothills chapter and Joy Crisp, Principal Scientist at Jet Propulsion Laboratory among others
