 Authors' Coalition Lauded in National Periodical

Glendale, CA--Anchora, a national magazine announced the founding of Authors' Coalition in their "In the News" feature of their summer, 2006, edition. Published continually since 1884, the magazine informs thousands of its subscribers with each issue. Whitney Parker Scully is editor.

Sometimes great ideas start small and grow. Authors' Coalition is a loosely knit group of cooperating authors who have come together to advance the interests of writers and the writing community in general. Its website is:

Founded by Carolyn Howard-Johnson, Kristie Leigh Maguire is a board member and Joyce Faulkner is Director.

Kristie Leigh Maguire is a multi-published, award-winning author. Her novel, Desert Heat, was voted "Romance of the Year" by the Affaire de Coeur Reader/Writer Poll and Kristie was voted "Best Up and Coming Author of the Year" in the same poll. Maguire is also the owner of Star Publish, a non-traditional publishing house.

Faulkner is editor of Red Engine Press and author of In the Shadow of Suribachi, a Pulitzer Prize nominee, and other books. Howard-Johnson is the author of USA Book News' Best Professional Book, The Frugal Book Promoter: How to Do What Your Publisher Won't, and an instructor for UCLA Extension's Writers' Program. The Frugal Book Promoter was honored by the Book Publicists of Southern California with their Irwin Award.
