Award-winning Author, Carolyn Howard-Johnson Signs Contract with Red Engine Press
Award-winning author Carolyn Howard-Johnson signed a contract with Red Engine Press for the second in her How to Do It Frugally series, The Frugal Editor: Put Your Best Book Forward to Avoid Humiliation and Ensure.
Howard Johnson wrote The Frugal Editor she says because, "There are gremlins out there determined to keep your work from being published, your book from being promoted. They -- resolved to embarrass you before the gatekeepers who can turn the key of success for you -- lurk in your subconscious and the depths of your computer programs."
Whether you are a new or experienced author, The Frugal Editor will help authors present whistle-clean copy (whether it's a one-page cover letter or your entire manuscript) to those who have the power to say "Yea" or "Nay." It is scheduled for release in April of 2007 in time for its launch at the LA Times/UCLA Festival of Books and Book Expo America in New York.
Marilyn Ross, CEO of Self-Publishing Resources and founder of Small Publishers Association of North America (SPAN) says of the book, “Carolyn Howard-Johnson is a master wordsmith who presents information in a fun, down-to-earth style. The tips, tricks, and techniques she presents in The Frugal Editor give every writer the ammunition needed to wage a successful editing war — not only on sloppy manuscripts — but also on queries, cover letters, and book proposals. Perfect for honing your craft.”
Howard-Johnson was a publicist for a New York agency and an editorial assistant for Good Housekeeping Magazine. She is a freelance editor and an instructor for UCLA's renowned Writers' Program. She sharpened her editing skills with her first books including This Is the Place, Harkening and Tracings--published alternatively as well as traditionally.
Red Engine Press expects the second Frugal book to be as popular at the first, The Frugal Book Promoter: How to Do What Your Publisher Won't which won the Book Publicists of Southern California's Irwin Award and was named USA Book News' Best Professional Book of 2004. Based in Key West, FL., they publish several books that appeal to writers including the Complete Writer, and the Complete Writer's Journal.
