Glendale, CA--John Amen, the editor-in-chief of The Pedestal Magazine, has purchased Carolyn Howard-Johnson’s poem “Olvera Street Tutorial” to help celebrate the appearance of its 20th issue.
“Olvera Street Tutorial” was conceived when the poet visited historical Olvera Street in Los Angeles with her daughter, a cultural anthropologist, and realized that her view of the famous site had changed since she had taken her children and visitors to that site in the 70s and 80s.
The Pedestal Magazine is a recognized charitable literary magazine that features fine writing from poetry to nonfiction as well as a gallery. Carolyn Howard-Johnson’s poetry has appeared in literary journals like the Mochila Review, Banyan Review and Poetic Voices. Her first novel, THIS IS THE PLACE, has won eight awards.
